The Philadelphia Eagles may not be done making moves just yet.
After addressing several roster needs early in the offseason, one glaring hole still remains, the pass rush. And now, it appears the front office is actively working behind the scenes to fix it.
Despite adding pieces across the secondary and offense, Philadelphia knows replacing the production of Jaelan Phillips won’t be easy.
The Eagles has explored multiple options in recent weeks, but no deal has materialized, until now, where a new name has re-emerged in serious discussions.
According to The Athletic's Zach Berman, the Eagles have opened negotiations with the Minnesota Vikings in an effort to land a proven edge rusher on a high-value contract. The move signals urgency from Howie Roseman and the front office to solidify the defensive front before the 2026 season kicks off.

Jonathan Greenard, the 28-year-old pass rusher has quietly built a strong reputation as one of the more productive edge defenders in the league. Across six seasons, he has recorded 38 sacks, including an impressive stretch between 2023 and 2024 where he consistently pressured opposing quarterbacks at a high level.
While his 2025 campaign saw a slight dip in production, league insiders still view him as a reliable and impactful presence off the edge. His current four-year, $76 million deal makes him a significant investment, but also a potential bargain compared to top-tier pass rushers commanding even higher salaries.
Sources indicate that while no trade has been finalized, interest from Philadelphia remains strong. The Eagles reportedly see Greenard as a seamless fit in their defensive scheme, someone capable of stepping in immediately and helping stabilize a pass rush unit that has lacked consistency.
If a deal does get done, it would not only fill a critical need but also reinforce the Eagles’ commitment to staying competitive in a loaded NFC. For now, all eyes remain on whether these negotiations can cross the finish line.
One thing is clear, Philadelphia isn’t waiting around.
