Steelers Named Top Landing Spot For $255 Million Eagles Super Bowl MVP QB

Posted May 22, 2026

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly emerging as the top landing spot for the Philadelphia Eagles’ $255 million Super Bowl MVP quarterback if trade discussions unfold in the coming seasons.

According to ESPN, Jalen Hurts could become available if he fails to maintain peak performance in the 2026–27 season. The Eagles’ management, led by GM Howie Roseman, may proactively explore trade options to maximize the quarterback’s value before any further decline.

Sheil Kapadia of The Ringer speculated that the Houston Texans are also interested in Hurts, but Pittsburgh’s combination of veteran leadership, organizational stability, and playoff aspirations makes the Steelers a more appealing fit.

Kapadia noted that Steelers GM Omar Khan and head coach Mike McCarthy could view Hurts as a quarterback who embodies durability, mental toughness, and leadership necessary to guide the team back to contention.

He emphasized that Pittsburgh offers a culture aligned with Hurts’ style and competitive drive, while providing a strong locker room and disciplined coaching staff.

Despite posting 294 completions for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions last season, Hurts’ decision-making under pressure and tendency to tuck and run made the Eagles’ offense more predictable.

Analysts argue that the Steelers could provide a stronger supporting cast to maximize his strengths, including a reliable offensive line and playmakers at running back and wide receiver.

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans’ first-round QB, struggled in 2025–26 with 273 completions, 3,041 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, showing that highly-touted young QBs sometimes need a stable supporting cast to succeed.

While a blockbuster Hurts–Stroud swap is not imminent, NFL insiders suggest that if both quarterbacks regress or fail to meet expectations, Pittsburgh is well-positioned to negotiate a high-profile trade.

The Steelers’ deep roster, coaching expertise, and established culture of toughness make them an ideal destination for a quarterback of Hurts’ caliber.

Fans and analysts are closely monitoring how the Eagles manage Hurts’ contract situation and whether the Steelers can capitalize on a rare opportunity to add a proven Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

Pittsburgh’s front office has already strengthened their offensive line and added weapons for the passing game, making it more attractive for a potential trade scenario.

The combination of Hurts’ elite talent and the Steelers’ championship infrastructure could become one of the most impactful quarterback acquisitions in recent NFL history.

Adding Hurts would give the Steelers a dual-threat quarterback capable of elevating the offense and complementing their historically strong defense.

The move could also shift the balance of power in the AFC North, with the Steelers becoming instant contenders if the trade materializes.

Hurts’ presence would likely increase the Steelers’ chances of returning to the playoffs and competing deep into the postseason.

Steelers fans are already reacting to speculation on social media, with many expressing excitement at the possibility of a high-profile acquisition.

League analysts suggest that even if a trade is complex, the financial and strategic incentives could align for both the Eagles and Steelers.

The 2026 offseason is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing in recent memory, with quarterback movement potentially reshaping the landscape of the NFL.

If Pittsburgh successfully adds Hurts, it could mark a defining moment for the franchise, signaling an aggressive push to contend for a Super Bowl with a proven elite quarterback.
