Denver, CO – Just three hours after Governor Jared Polis's statement regarding the expansion of Broncos Park Powered, Greg Penner, owner of the Denver Broncos, unexpectedly announced the delay of this $120 million project until 2030.
Governor Polis's statement criticized the expansion plan, arguing that the state needs to prioritize other investment purposes. He also emphasized that upgrading sports infrastructure is not part of the state’s current development plan.

In an official statement, Greg Penner said: “We deeply regret to announce that the expansion of Broncos Park Powered will be delayed until 2030. While we were ready to proceed, due to unresolved issues related to the state’s development plans, we will need to adjust the timeline.”
The delay is believed to be due to disagreements between the team and state officials over prioritizing sports infrastructure development. Governor Polis highlighted that the state’s current priorities are long-term projects, not just upgrading sports facilities.
This delay has been disappointing for Broncos fans. Many feel the team is lacking a real commitment to the future and the community, especially when modern facilities are needed to maintain competitiveness.
On social media, fans criticized Greg Penner’s decision, arguing that it reflects a lack of long-term vision. One fan expressed: “The Broncos need a modern training facility to remain competitive. Delaying the project is a huge step backward.”
This news follows a significant overhaul of the existing Broncos Park Powered, with the facility being renovated and rebuilt at a cost of about $175 million. The upgraded center is expected to be completed and operational by spring/summer of 2026.

Despite these improvements, Penner wants to further expand the facility with an additional $120 million investment to enhance the team’s infrastructure and continue to stay competitive in the league.
The Broncos fan community hopes for a change in the team’s development strategy. Agreements between the team and state officials need to improve moving forward.
Nevertheless, the decision to delay the expansion has raised concerns about the team’s future. Whether the expansion plan will continue after 2030 remains a big question.
With this decision, Broncos fans will continue to monitor the progress of the project, hoping for positive changes in the near future.
